VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

On behalf of Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) and Tanzania Meteorological

Agency (TMA), Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) invites dynamic and suitable

qualified Tanzanians to fill sixteen (16) vacant posts as mentioned below;

1.0 THE TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS)

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is an Agency under the Ministry of

Works and Transport that is responsible for the Development and Maintenance of the

Trunk, Regional Roads Network, and Airports in Tanzania Mainland. It is also responsible

for conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.

1.1ENGINEER II (CIVIL) – 15 POSTS

1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To undertake road inventory, condition and traffic count surveys;

ii. To investigate sources and quality of construction materials along the roads;

iii. To identify sources of road accidents

iv. To attend regular site meetings and prepare minutes;

v. To supervise contractor at site and force account operations; and

vi. To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

1.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS

 Holders of Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields: Civil Engineering,

Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized

Institution. Must be registered by ERB as Graduate Engineer.

1.1.3 REMUNERATION

 Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Agency’s salary scale.

2.0 TANZANIA METEOROLOGICAL AUTHORITY (TMA)

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) was established through the Tanzania

Meteorological Authority Act No. 2 of 2019. The institution is responsible for regulating,

Coordinating and provision of meteorological services to the general public, institutions

and individual users of tailor-made services for socio-economic development. The

Authority is also responsible for issuing warnings and advisories on severe weather

events for protection of human life and properties.

2.0.1 METEOROLOGIST II -1 POST

2.0.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

i. To perform Meteorological, Agrometeorological, Hydro Meteorological, and

Environmental analysis;

ii. To provide general weather forecasting for the general public, media, etc;

iii. To provide weather forecast product for use in Marine, Aviation, Agriculture,

Tourism, Energy, Disasters, etc;

iv. To provide assistance in issuing of specific weather forecast and warnings;

v. To provide assistance in issuing Aviation Forecasts for international air navigation;

vi. To provide assistance provide weather briefings to pilots for international air

navigation;

vii. To assists in conducting climatological data processing; and

viii. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

2.0.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 Holder of Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the following fields:

Meteorology, Hydrometeorology, Atmospheric Science, Agro meteorology or

related qualifications from a recognized institution.

OR

 Holder of Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following fields: Physics

and Mathematics, Education, General Agriculture, Environmental Sciences and

Management, Computer Science, Information Communication Technology,

Statistics, Geo Informatics, Telecommunication Engineering, Hydrology or related

qualifications from a recognized institution.

 Candidates must have successful completed Postgraduate Diploma in

Meteorology while the candidate with Computer Science, Information

Communication Technology, Statistics, Geo Informatics, must have completed

Crash Programme in Physics and Mathematics.

1.0.4 SALARY SCALE: AS PER TMA SCALE.

Registration or Regulatory Bodies, (where applicable);

Birth certificate;

v. Attaching copies of the following certificates is strictly not accepted:-

• Form IV and form VI results slips;

• Testimonials and all Partial transcripts;

vi. An applicant must upload recent Passport Size Photo in the Recruitment Portal;

vii. An applicant employed in the Public Service should route his application letter

through his respective employer;

viii. An applicant who is retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not

apply;

ix. An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts;

x. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level

education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania

(NECTA).

xi. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions

should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and

National

Council for Technical Education (NACTE);

xii. An applicant with special needs/case (disability) is supposed/advised to indicate;

xiii. A signed application letter should be written either in Swahili or English and
